Manufacturing

Demo with sample data

What one repetitive job costs you.

Before anything gets built, we put a number on the work. Pick a weekly job, enter who does it and for how long, and see what it costs a year.

The wage starts at the US median for a mechanical drafter (BLS, May 2025). We add about 43% for benefits and payroll taxes, since wages are 70% of what an employee costs (BLS, June 2026). The share is a guess until it's measured on your own work; that's what the first step is for.

The hours go back to work that needs a person: design, harder quotes, parts that fail inspection. We're paid from the measured saving, so our pay rises and falls with it.

What the numbers say

Each figure links to its source. Vendor claims are labeled.

1.9M

Manufacturing jobs that could go unfilled by 2033, out of up to 3.8 million needed.

70%

Share of an employee's cost that is wages. The rest is benefits and payroll taxes, so the calculator adds them.

54%

Share of their time engineers say they actually spend designing.

2.2–3.1 h

Time to draw one machined part by hand, measured at NIST.

How it works

  1. 01

Wages start at the US median for the role, plus benefits and payroll taxes.

  2. 02

The share software could take off is a starting guess. On a real project we measure it first.

  3. 03

We are paid from the measured saving, so it is the number we both watch.

Good to know

Before you try it on your shop.

An estimate until we measure your shop. Wages are national medians, and the cost of the fix is not included.
