Demo with sample data
Try a release check on a generated drawing.
In engineer-to-order work, a drawing generated from a 3D model can look finished and still be missing what the floor needs. Finish and treatment callouts like plating or anodizing usually aren't in the model at all. This demo walks a sample part through the checks we'd put in front of release, so nothing generated reaches the floor until an engineer and a named approver have looked at it.
1. Pick a sample part
Mounting plate, 350 × 300 × 12 mm
A36 steel · drawing generated from the 3D model · rev A
Sample part and sketch. Dashed outlines are features the generated drawing left undimensioned.
2. Run the release checks
Revision matches PDM: passes
Drawing and PDM are both at rev A.
Bill of material matches ERP: passes
1 of 1 lines match.
Every feature is dimensioned: fails
6 of 7 present. Missing: Position of the lower-right mounting hole.
Finish and treatment callouts are on the drawing: fails
Not in the 3D model, so not on the drawing: Powder coat, black, per customer spec.
Title block and notes are complete: passes
Material (A36 steel), drawing standard and tolerances are filled in.
A named approver signs off
Locked until every check above passes.
Held at release: 2 checks to resolve.
The drawing doesn't reach the floor until an engineer resolves each flag and a named approver signs.
How it works
- 01
The checks compare the drawing with the systems that already hold the record: the revision in PDM and the bill of material in ERP.
- 02
Anything the model can't carry, like finishes, treatments and inspection notes, is checked against the job and flagged when it's missing.
- 03
An engineer clears each flag. The approver can only sign once every check passes, and the sign-off is recorded with the revision.
Good to know
Before you try it on your shop.
This is a demo with made-up parts and rules. It runs in your browser and doesn't send anything anywhere. It doesn't show a client drawing, and nothing in it is a measured result. In a real engagement the checks come from your drawing standard and your CAD, PDM and ERP systems.
